Traveller and Roma Access Officer

Traveller & Roma Access Officer: The main purpose of the project is to increase the participation of Traveller and Roma students in Higher Education. The project focuses on three strands: Pre-entry and Outreach, Post-entry Support, and Building Institutional Readiness.

We Care Workshop

This training helps students and all staff (lecturers, maintenance staff, faculty members...) to create a caring community. Participants are trained to recognise mental problems, to engage in difficult conversations and to refer warmly to professional help where necessary.

Hold On Map

The Hold On Map provides staff with a guideline for handling signs of suicide. It makes issues discussable and clearly indicates where students with suicidal thoughts and behaviours can be referred or who can be contacted in risk situations.

University for All Faculty Partnership Programme

The Faculty Partnership Programme was conceived in 2021 to support and accelerate the implementation of UDL throughout the University. It offers faculty a structured opportunity to undertake Universal Design training, to facilitate this training for the colleagues and peers, and become a role model who will persuade and influence others as to the merits of inclusion for all students.

Disability Services – Needs Assessment

All students with a disability or significant ongoing illness in UCD have the opportunity to receive relevant reasonable accommodations or supports. To receive these supports students are invited to complete a short meeting called a Needs Assessment with UCD Access & Lifelong Learning.

UCD Disability Services – Occupational Therapy Support

The Occupational Therapy Service is a student-centred and confidential service in which students work 1:1 with an Occupational Therapist in order to develop the necessary academic, social, and personal skills for fulfilling their role as a UCD student.

Writing Clinics

In a Writing Clinic the writing coach looks at the students’ text as the first, critical reader and gives them individual language and writing advice.

SDU uniTEST

A multiple-choice test evaluating general academic aptitude. It is not a test of knowledge within specific subjects, but a test on general prerequisites for completing an academic degree. UniTEST also gives the applicants insight in what is expected from them upon entering the university.
